Position Summary

The Driver is a functional role that includes the operation of shuttle and tractors to move trailers as needed for operations and the loading and unloading of trailers. To assure team continuity across all warehouse operations, this position may also be required to learn, perform, and or be certified to assist within other areas of Warehouse Operations including material & inventory, Distribution, Traffic, or others as assigned.

The role works collaboratively with key business partners to ensure timeliness of execution, appropriate safeguards to protect during transit, and / or other. Interacting with Distribution, Operations, and Material Control to identify and meet business requirements.

Duties

  • Drives company vehicle between sites moving material as instructed (tractor, shuttle, Dock Truck, Van, and / or Car may be required), obeying all local traffic and safety laws.

  • Maintains FMCSA compliance at all times including logs, paperwork, safety, and records. This also includes obtaining / maintaining DOT Hazmat endorsement.

  • Timely loads and unloads freight as required using forklift and / or other material handling equipment.

  • Protects vehicle contents from damage at all times, and ensures all loads are appropriately labelled and documented correctly. Reports any damage or maintenance issues to the vehicles or loads immediately.

  • Follows all provided control procedures and policies to complete tasks.

  • Fuels vehicles as needed.

  • Works collaboratively with sending and receiving sites making sure all business needs are met.

  • Communicates challenges timely and effectively bringing related improvement ideas to leadership.

  • Maintains a neat and safe work environment and engages in promotion of a safe work environment.

  • Works overtime as required to meet business needs.

Required Experience

  • 4 years related disciplines experience required. Current Commercial Driver’s License required for any vehicle greater than 26,000 pounds.

  • Pass DOT Physical including drug screen.

  • Pass MVR requirements.

  • Defensive driver training as required.

  • Previous forklift experience (counterbalance) preferred, if none, ability to become certified required.

  • Ability to work independently and as a team in a fast paced, changing environment.

  • Maintain positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.

  • Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.

  • Ability to continually meet all ADA factors as detailed within this job description.

Education Degree

High School Diploma or GED
