Staff Vice President (VP) Public Relations – Health Benefits

Location

Successful candidate must reside within 50 miles of an Elevance Health office location, and able to commute on-site at least 3 days per week.

Summary

The Staff Vice President (VP) Public Relations (PR) – Health Benefits, is a senior leadership role responsible for developing and executing comprehensive communication strategies for our local market commercial and government business units within the organization. This role requires strategic thinking, strong leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. The Staff VP for Public Relations (PR) will oversee a team of communication professionals and work closely with executives at both a national and state level to drive communication initiatives aligned with the objectives of our brands and businesses.

Position Responsibilities

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field (master's degree preferred).

  • 10 years of in-depth experience working in Public Relations in either corporate and/or agency environments, while leading strategic and integrated communications teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to work well with senior leaders and collaboratively across an organization with experience working in highly matrixed organizations.

  • Strong understanding of media relations, crisis communication, and stakeholder engagement.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft effective messages for diverse audiences.

  • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.

  • Experience managing external agencies and consultants.

  • Experience developing measurement programs to demonstrate the ROI of public relations efforts.

Position Requirements

  • Large, health insurance plan experience strongly preferred

  • Understanding of media dynamics and trends within the healthcare industry.

  • Understanding of industry-specific regulations and compliance requirements relevant to healthcare communications.

  • Strong familiarity with current industry trends, advancements, and challenges in healthcare, as well as the ability to leverage this knowledge to position the organization and its leaders as thought leaders.

  • Strong network and relationships with key media contacts in the healthcare industry, enabling effective media outreach and collaboration.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences

  • Large, health insurance plan experience strongly preferred

  • Understanding of media dynamics and trends within the healthcare industry.

  • Understanding of industry-specific regulations and compliance requirements relevant to healthcare communications.

  • Strong familiarity with current industry trends, advancements, and challenges in healthcare, as well as the ability to leverage this knowledge to position the organization and its leaders as thought leaders.

For candidates working in person or remotely in the below locations, the salary* range for this specific position is $149,040 to $298,080

Locations: California; Colorado; Nevada; New York; Washington State; Jersey City, NJ
