POSITION: 2nd Shift Lead person

Work to be performed

Lead and direct 2nd shift crew, making sure of all safety, quality, and environmental policies are followed while maximizing efficiency. Ideal candidate will have knowledge of mixing and pelleting equipment and process routing, an understanding of computers and programs such as Outlook, Word and Excel, familiar with products produced and codes, warehouse layout, forklift operation, and quality storage and packing procedures. Good housekeeping is to be maintained at all times. Must be able to direct others and act as a leader to ensure shift hits production goals. Lead Person is the responsible party for the facility when they are on shift unless a more senior member of leadership is on-site. The Lead Person must be comfortable running the plant and contacting appropriate parties when need arises.

Work Duties and Required Skills

  • Practice good customer service procedures as required by company customer service guidelines. Remember that Customer Service is a top priority at ADM ANI.

  • Customer Service Guidelines includes being prompt and courteous, loading customer’s trucks according to ADM ANI procedures within a reasonable amount of time with minimum customer delays. Learn, understand, and implement MPC’s, SOP’s, and Work Instructions and be able to assist team members on shift with this understanding.

  • Work as a team player in the quality process. Notify appropriate management as necessary, if any out-of-spec quality conditions exist. Assure product is properly sealed, in proper packages, and is coded and tagged correctly. Must have adequate quality training.

  • Communicate effectively with operators, members of management, and support teams regarding quality of packaging and loading efficiency.

  • Ability to operate a fork truck proficiently and in a safe manner.

  • Housekeeping in the plant is to be performed according to the ADM ANI, Springfield Plant Housekeeping plan. Other housekeeping duties are to be completed as assigned. Maintain warehouse plan and keep products neat and orderly to assist in the traceability process. Ensure operators perform their housekeeping duties, perform housekeeping and organizational audits, and identify and assign tasks to be completed by shift team.

  • Safely and efficiently operate and supervise the operation of all necessary equipment at all times in a manner so not to harm yourself, your fellow employees, and the equipment. Follow all established plant safety rules. Perform safety engagements, audits, and observations. Complete near miss and first aid reporting.

  • Work overtime as required based on customer demands and as directed by Springfield Management.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager or Assistant Plant Manager.

  • Fill out necessary paperwork properly, including but not limited to, all production related reports, order loading forms and customer invoices. Complete end of shift reports, be able to report out details about what occurred on the shift, and follow up with operators when productivity goals are not met. Need basic computer and math skills.

  • Provide training as necessary to train new employees and lesser skilled employees when opportunities arise. Provide ongoing coaching to operators to improve skills and ensure goals are achieved. Complete operator evaluations and corrective actions with the support and guidance of plant management.

  • Must be able to easily lift all materials, as the job requires. Lifting ability must be at least 55 pounds from the floor to a minimum height of 50 inches. Must be able to climb ladders.

  • Follow all plant rules of conduct at all times.

  • Participated in continuous improvement activities which may include participating in or leading projects.
