ASM Global Operations Assistant Manager in Salt Lake City, Utah

POSITION: Operations Assistant Manager

Summary

At ASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for a n Operations Assistant Manager for ASM Global/Salt Palace Convention Center . Under the guidance of the Manager of Operations , the Operations Assistant Manager has a key leadership role in overseeing all administrative tasks for the support and operational needs of the Operations department. This consists of scheduling, payroll, onboarding and offboarding, succession planning, training, and oversight of disciplinary measures for the team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create and manage department scheduling needs to work around PTO requests, sick leave, and the needs of the events in-house on a weekly basis.

  • Manage daily adjustments to time clock for individual staff based on attendance and event needs.

  • Track a report attendance occurrence for staff with poor attendance and manage disciplinary actions accordingly.

  • Support and assist the Payroll Manager with any payroll needs or adjustments for the department.

  • Ensure facility and events are in “show ready condition” through training and oversight of shift Supervisors.

  • Ensure all facility equipment is being stored and maintained properly on all shifts.

  • Partnering with the HR Recruiter, oversee all interviews and new hires for the department and ensure they are provid ed with onboarding training and assistance to set all new hires up for success.

  • Assign and oversee work orders and e nsure staff complete work orders in a timely manner for event set ups and changeovers.

  • Operate and distribute machinery and tools as required in connection with set ups and changeovers.

  • Conduct continued on-the-job training for new employees , current Supervisors, and current staff to ensure succession planning for future promot ions within the department.

  • Partnering with HR, a dminister progressive disciplin ary actions , including counseling, documentation of incidents, and up to the dismissal of employees.

  • Act as liaison between clients and staff for events and between the Operations department and Human Resources.

  • En s ure set up and changeovers are completed in the timeliest and most cost -effective manner.

  • Support the Operations Manager with department budget preparations and recommend changes to procedure or purchases that can lower costs.

  • Take inventory, analyze, and make recommendations for capital expenditures and/or im provements to the facility.

  • Purchase and maintain an inventory of supplies for the department.

  • Perform other duties or special projects as needed.

    Experience & Knowledge

  • At least t hree (3) years of labor management preferred.

  • Mechanical experience and capability preferred.

  • Ability to read blueprints , sketch diagrams , and CAD drawings preferred.

  • B asic computer skills and efficiency in Microsoft Office required .

  • Experience in Workday and ABI preferred.

  • Good leadership and communication skills required .

    Job Type: Full-time, 40 hours per week, In-Office

    Salary: $52,000-$57,000 annual salary

    Schedule: Monday-Friday , 9:00am –5:00pm, Weekend Availability Required , As needed based on event scheduling
