How will you make an impact?

This position is focused on service delivery excellence for Unity Lab Services.

Specific activities relative to the job function will include inventory management. This position will apply the functionality of systems and applications relevant to the job function, such as: ULSIM, chemical management software, procurement applications, and the Microsoft Office suite of programs.

Customer interface communication skills are required. It is also expected that this position will have a basic understanding of the performance metrics applicable to site specific activities.

What will you do?

As a Material Handler, you will help support with inventory management tasks.

Material handler will; perform stockroom duties to include; receiving, put-away, stock rotation, cycle counts, and other functions according to customer requirements, deliver direct shipment orders to end users, and work on sourcing/order management.

These duties will be performed according to established safety, security, and quality guidelines in our GMP facility.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience Required

1 year of related experience within a laboratory setting is preferred.

Experience in GLP/GMP environment a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and desire to deliver excellent customer service. This includes maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor in all interactions and upholding Thermo Fisher Scientific's values.

  • Possesses a strong desire to serve the customer, and the interpersonal skills to collaborate with various levels of personnel at the customer site.

  • Must possess operating skills to use handheld scanners to enter data in various systems as needed; as well as analytical skills to reconcile reports.

  • Requires strong analytical skills to reconcile various reports to ensure customer requirements are met.

  • Must possess the organizational skills to multi-task and meet deadlines as needed.

  • Must be able to use a computer and possess intermediate skills in Microsoft Office suite of software.

  • Able to read, write, and speak English fluently.

  • Must display a high level of confidentiality for both customers and Thermo Fisher

Work Hours

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

  • Works primarily at customer sites, which may require independent work at the customer locations. Work areas may include spaces where chemical-based allergens are in use (such as penicillin, tetracycline, etc)

  • Depending on the area of the building, personal protective equipment may be worn, including lab coats, coveralls, hoods, facemasks, hairnets, safety gloves, steel-toe shoes, bump hats, and/or safety glasses.

  • Requires the ability to lift, push, and pull 30-40 pounds consistently; may be required to lift 50 pounds occasionally, including operation and use of pushcarts, pallet jacks, forklifts, etc.

  • Regularly required to stand or walk for prolonged periods.

  • Ability to work overtime, as needed.
