Azure Communication Services is built on the same cloud infrastructure that powers Microsoft Teams which enables hundreds of millions of users to communicate across the globe. As a Developer Evangelist, you will support the Developer Relations and Experience team in its mission to inspire and enable a global community of developers with content that facilitate meaningful B2C interactions.

This role will specifically work to evangelize our newest feature releases within our developer community with the goal to speed adoption and usage while also ensuring product feedback makes its way back to the feature program managers.

Responsibilities

Evangelism:

Develop, grow, and support evangelism goals for the Developer Relations and Experience team. Supporting activities include:

  • Utilize the existing private preview community to identify early adopters of Azure Communication Services that can be cultivated into product influencers.

  • Influence the product roadmap and feature prioritization by deeply understanding the customer scenario and heavily promote adoption of features in development and at launch.

  • Have a deep understanding of internal Microsoft developer communities and knowledge of how to best leverage those communities to continue to scale Azure Communication Services

  • Represent Azure Communication Services in internally and externally facing speaking opportunities.

Program Management:

Establish, document, and support internal processes for scaling our private preview program. This includes product launches as well as maintaining deep, long-term (external) developer/customer relationships for feature adoption in partnership with our engineering teams. Supporting activities include:

  • Leading and maintaining deep customer relationships with a specific goal towards building a community of Azure Communication Services supporters and influencers.

  • Launching and maintaining features in private preview.

  • Partner with our Partner and Customer Success organization to ensure smooth transition for new partners to our product and features in development.

  • Granular tracking of recruitment and program execution activities at the individual customer level with a specific eye towards opportunities for increasing product/feature usage.

Communications:

Create and maintain content for formal internal and external facing communication mediums by coordinating with the appropriate stakeholders for content. Supporting activities include:

  • Assists with strategy for taking the group of features or feature areas (e.g., product, service) from private preview to public preview and then to general availability.

  • Developing customer-facing collateral including product demos, training modules, internal/external presentations, blogs, and more. Audience may include developer/customer or partners

  • Creating and maintaining internal and external-facing collateral, presentations, and training to be used to create awareness and educational opportunities for our internal stakeholders, first party partners, and field sales.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience in program management, digital content publishing/management, or experience in a writing or editing role

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years experience in software engineering, or electrical engineering, or technical engineering, or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree AND 5+ years experience in program management, developer evangelism/advocacy, software development, or equivalent experience. 

  • Developer obsessed mindset - you lead with deep developer empathy and define core customer value first.

  • Demonstrated ability to create engaging and informational and educational content, such as blog posts, videos, podcasts, and technical talks that showcase the value and benefits of technical products and services.

  • A proven track record of assessing tradeoffs, thoughtfully prioritizing, and maintaining a bias for action. Comfort working with ambiguity.

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and executive presence, with the ability to work both directly with customers and in cross-functional teams including field sales and partner enablement. 

  • Demonstrated presentation skills to convey complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders. 

  • Drive for reaching across teams and organizations to make progress collaboratively. 

  • Familiarity with platforms like Substrate and experience in handling customer interaction data. 

  • Experience in integrating 3P data platforms and understanding of data storage solutions (cloud-based and on-premises). 

  • Experience working with globally distributed teams in multiple time zones. 

Content Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
