The University of Southern Maine’s Department of Athletics is seeking applicants for the position of Athletic Trainer. This is an exciting opportunity to expand and develop a career in Athletic Training at a NCAA Division III university. About the Position:

The selected candidate will serve as a member of the athletic healthcare team for intercollegiate student-athletes. The Athletic Trainer will be supervised by the Head Athletic Trainer/Athletic Healthcare Administrator and will work under the direction of the Head Team Physician. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, prevention, clinical evaluation and diagnosis, immediate and emergency care, treatment, rehabilitation & reconditioning, organization & administration and professional responsibility. He/she/they will work as part of a team of 4 athletic Trainers, 2 team physicians, 2 physical therapists, a dentist and a mental performance coach as well as other community members. Schedule and Salary:

This is a full-time position with a work schedule that varies depending on the competition and practice schedule and season. This is an ongoing position that works 10 months out of the year (early-August through early-June) with an annual salary of $46,000 and is located on our Gorham Campus. Some travel is required.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training from CAATE accredited program (obtained by start date).

Licenses/Certifications:

  • BOC (Board of Certification) Certification.

  • State of Maine Athletic Training license (must obtain by appointment date).

  • Current Professional Rescuer (or equivalent) CPR/AED Certification.

  • Eligible for American Red Cross First Aid, CPR and AED Instructor Certification (must be obtained within six months of appointment).
