Statement of the Job:

To support the instructional, research, scholarship, creative activity, and public service missions of the University of Maine by promoting adoption of open educational resources (OER), providing information literacy instruction and design assistance, reference and collection development service, and research assistance. To serve as a liaison in the Sciences and other areas as assigned. To participate in fostering learner success, to assist with creating and innovating for Maine and beyond, and to help grow and steward partnerships. The work is based on-site in Orono, but involves virtual support for Merrill Library in Machias. Typical hiring range for this position is $51,183 to $54,500 commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Master’s degree in library science from a school accredited by the American Library Association.

  • Experience with promotion of OER resources in an academic setting. Academic reference experience is required, with reference experience with science disciplines preferred.

  • Experience or training in information literacy instruction.

  • Experience or training in classroom instruction and online instruction. Experience with the creation of web pages and/or tutorials.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Familiarity with integrating Artificial Intelligence in support of research and instruction.

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
