The Risk Appetite Assessment Principal is a strategic professional who closely follows latest trends in own field and adapts them for application within own job and the business. Recognized subject matter expert within at least one aspect of non-financial risk. Strong commercial awareness is a necessity. Is an acknowledged authority both within and outside area of expertise. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Provides advanced judgment and conducts in-depth quantitative or qualitative analysis to solve problems and develop new, innovative solutions. Required to think beyond existing solutions, assumptions or current knowledge of sophisticated areas. Significant impact at the enterprise level and business unit level through making decisions that determine approaches and strategies for the firm.

Responsibilities:

• Lead oversight of risk appetite assessment processes for non-financial risks both at enterprise and business unit level. Goals include achieving continuous improvement of outcomes by delivering more insightful and more actionable risk appetite assessment that is conducted by the risk category teams and business teams.

• Develop recommendations to advise senior management on high-priority initiatives, including enhancement to the risk appetite and assessment processes and related areas of the ERM Framework.

• Coordinate communications with key stakeholders at both enterprise and business level

Qualifications:

• 15+ years experience in financial services.

• 10+ years experience in at least one aspect of non-financial risk management including 2nd line and 1st line functions relevant to non-financial risk management.

• Ability to lead and direct a team of knowledge professionals.

• Ability to lead by influence across multiple teams and organizational structures

• Problem solving capabilities; ability to take a complex problem and organize it in discrete pieces for solution.

• Ability to size and prioritize large-scale initiatives.

Education:

• Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience, Masters degree helpful but not required
