Citigroup Director, ORM Risk Appetite & Limits Lead - Hybrid in New York, New York

The ORM Risk Appetite & Limits Lead manages a team responsible for leading and coordinating the risk appetite, risk appetite assessment, metrics selection, risk identification and concentration risk processes. The team also manages ORM Procedures related to these areas.

ORM Risk Appetite & Limits Lead is a strategic professional who closely follows latest trends in own field and adapts them for application within own job and the business. Recognized subject matter expert within operational risk management. Strong commercial awareness is a necessity. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Provides advanced judgment and conducts in-depth quantitative or qualitative analysis to solve problems and develop new, innovative solutions. Required to think beyond existing solutions, assumptions or current knowledge of sophisticated areas. Significant impact at the enterprise level and business unit level through making decisions that determine approaches and strategies for the firm.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead implementation and governance of the relevant risk management processes for ORM including risk appetite, risk appetite assessment, risk appetite metrics selection and threshold setting, risk identification and concentration risk. Goals include achieving all BAU objectives as well as continuous improvement of outcomes by delivering more insightful and more actionable risk appetite assessment that is conducted both at the risk category level and by own team for Operational risk as a whole.

  • Develop recommendations to advise senior management on high-priority initiatives, including enhancement to the relevant processes and related areas of the ERM Framework.

  • Coordinate communications with key stakeholders at both enterprise and business level.

  • Act as a trusted advisor to the leadership team and addresses high impact strategic issues across the portfolio of risk categories and businesses. Work in close partnership with senior leadership.

  • Provide clarity in complex problems, facilitate decision-making, and guide high impact initiatives.

  • Contribute to continuous team improvement and management, e.g., provide leadership in recruiting, coach junior staff, etc.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years experience in financial services.

  • 10+ years experience in at least one aspect of non-financial risk management including 2nd line and 1st line functions relevant to operational risk management.

  • 10+ years experience in people management.

  • Ability to lead and direct a team of knowledge professionals.

  • Ability to lead by influence across multiple teams and organizational structures

  • Problem solving capabilities; ability to take a complex problem and organize it in discrete pieces for solution.

  • Ability to size and prioritize large-scale initiatives.

  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication

  • Problem structuring & causal thinking, sound business judgment, and demonstrated result orientation. Excellent analytical and quantitative capabilities. Creativity thinking; thinks outside the box and challenges conventional wisdom.

  • Collaborative work style; effectively interacts with partners across organizational boundaries/hierarchies.

  • Displays a leadership presence; commands respect and will earn trust of senior leaders. Multi-tasks productively and reliably, while managing conflicting priorities

Education:

  • Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience,

  • Masters degree helpful but not required

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:

$170,000.00 - $300,000.00
