Key Responsibilities:

As a CDL Laborer, you will play a vital role in supporting our Equipment Operators and Foreman to efficiently complete job orders. Your tasks will include:

  • Collaborating with our experts to work around located utilities.
  • Exposing existing utilities by hand-digging.
  • Preparing cable routes and feeding cable, honing your skills in cable management.
  • Assisting in equipment operation and print reading through on-the-job training.
  • Loading and unloading work supplies.
  • Taking care of equipment maintenance and ensuring a clean and organized job site.

Physical Demands:

  • Must have efficient eye-hand coordination.
  • Must be able to perform physical labor involving frequent lifting (over 50 lbs.), carrying, bending, and shoveling.
  • Must be able to work long periods of time, including nights and weekends.

Additional Duties:

As you progress within the company, you'll have the opportunity to take on more responsibilities such as reporting equipment problems, setting up pedestals, driving ground rods, reading telephone and/or CATV prints, and operating various equipment like a backhoe, trencher, plow, box pusher, or tamper.

Qualifications:

To thrive in this role, you should have:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • A willingness to perform the hard physical labor of the role.

Desired Abilities:

  • A hold on an insurance-acceptable driver's license.
  • Class A CDL with manual transmission experience.
  • Reading Proficiency: Navigate and comprehend written instructions, ensuring accurate execution of tasks.
  • Understand and fulfill the duties associated with the position, demonstrating a keen grasp of responsibilities.
  • Excellent Communication Skills
  • Strong teamwork and individual work capabilities.

Environmental Conditions of the Workplace:

The role necessitates working in diverse conditions, including the use of hearing protection and safety glasses when applicable. Tasks may involve working in confined spaces and enduring outdoor work across various weather conditions such as rain, snow, wind, extreme heat, and cold. Additionally, the position requires occasional travel to job sites for a week or more, primarily within the designated areas of Wisconsin, Upper Michigan, and Arkansas.
