Lowe's Accountant in Mooresville, North Carolina

Job Summary

The Margin Accountant is a key member of a team responsible for the administration, tracking, accrual, and collection of vendor funds. The Margin Accountant is responsible for managing the relationship with their assigned merchant categories by attending weekly merchant staff meetings, holding quarterly SOX compliance meetings, assisting in financial process flows, analyzing non-standard purchase and sales agreements for potential GAAP issues, and providing ad hoc reporting as requested. The Margin Accountant must complete audits of vendor funded programs in alignment with the departmental risk audit approach policies. The Margin Accountant must be a team contributor with leadership qualities and be able to communicate effectively to develop relationships across various levels and departments. This position entails frequent interaction with Lowe’s finance departments as well as our vendor community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performs Month-End Close procedures including journal entries and reconciliations of revenue and deferred revenue accounts and preparation of consolidated Month-End Analysis.

  • Research transactions to identify issues and ensure they are processed correctly, providing accurate and timely resolutions for any discrepancies.

  • Collaborates across the accounting and finance organizations, as well as of the Business as needed, in order to ensure revenue and deferred revenue are reported accurately both from an Operational & Financial perspective.

  • Reviews job procedures and key processes to identify potential improvements that will increase the accuracy and efficiency of all assigned tasks

  • Works with external and internal auditors for transactions to provide required data and information to ensure accuracy and alignment

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or another Business related field

  • 1-2 years experience in Accounting or Finance

  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and interpersonal)

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Strong computer skills (Excel, Access, VATS, mainframe)

  • Excellent leadership skills (able to build relationships across Finance and Merchandising, as well as with vendors)

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA or CPA Candidate

  • Peoplesoft GL experiences a Plus

  • Strong client-facing experience skills

Pay Range for CA, CO, HI, NJ, NY, WA: $58,100.00 - $96,900.00 annually Starting rate of pay may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, position offered, location, education, training, and/or experience.
