FedEx Logistics Vice President, Engineering, and IT Supply Chain in Memphis, Tennessee

General Summary:

Reporting to the CIO and Senior Vice President of Engineering & IT, this position represents the Vice President, Engineering and IT Supply Chain will support and/or manage the activity necessary to develop a world class team, processes, systems to support and scale for growth and meet company objectives around people, service, and profit. Driving ever-improving results, supply chain and cost reductions while delivering a new level of customer service and speed to market.

Essential Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Participate and contribute as a member of the officer team in the development and execution of organizational strategies and business objectives.

  • Develop and drive forward-thinking supply chain technology aligned with overall IT strategy, deliver measurable business impacts, and reduce costs by increasing efficiency and effectiveness of applications.

  • Lead and facilitate consultation with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new technology implementations in support of Supply Chain and overall FedEx business growth.

  • Oversee new customer IT implementations, system upgrades, and day-today IT operational continuity in support of customer-facing activities.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize processes, increase scalability, and maintain a competitive advantage in the market.

  • Participate development on pricing and solutioning models that meet customer needs and assist in the completion of profitable deals for the FSC organization.

  • Manage end to end customer system implementations.

  • Promote and oversee relationships between FSC IT resources, Operations, FedEx enterprise, and external vendors to ensure implementation of resilient, high-value systems that enable strong business continuity and customer value.

  • Provide a world-class working environment that enables IT to attract and retain industry-leading talent.

  • Provide leadership and direction promoting the people-service-profit philosophy as well as encouraging the growth and development of team members.

  • Actively participates in leadership development activities, including succession planning, coaching, and individual development planning within span of control.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Industrial Engineering, IT, or related operations discipline is strongly preferred. Alternatively, military rank at O5. Master’s Degree preferred.

  • A minimum of fifteen (15) years of proven management experience in a multi-customer logistics and/or 3PL environment responsible for managing customer relationships, contracts, pricing, P&L, quality, vendor, and talent management.

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in implementing complex Tier 1 Warehouse Management Systems.

  • A minimum of five (5) years of customer management.

  • Strong knowledge of Warehouse Engineering and Operational Process.

  • Advanced management skills required to lead a globally dispersed team, including staff performance and development, team building and communications, resolution of issues and conflicts, and hiring and training employees.

  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively at multiple levels, in support of our customer relationships.

  • Demonstrated self-confidence, particularly with client relationships; strong relationship building skills.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, teammates, customers, and the public.

  • A proven track record of mentoring and developing direct reports and subordinates.
