This safety sensitive position (SS) purpose is to drive a commercial rated rear loading refuse truck along residential routes to collect refuse and recycling.
Minimum Qualifications
- No experience is necessary, but is preferred.
- Requiresa Class B CDL with air brakes.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read, understand and follow policies, safety rules and instructions.
- A successful Drug Screen and Background Check.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Inspects truck prior to leaving on route to ensure that it is properly cleaned, serviced, and fueled. This duty is performed daily.
- Drives a reload refuse truck along a route to collect refuse; transfers refuse to a landfill. This duty is performed daily.
- Empties refuse into the truck. This duty is performed daily.
- Performs such routine maintenance and minor repairs on the truck. This duty is performed daily.
- Cleans truck inside and out. This duty is performed daily.
- Basic customer service responsibilities dealing with citizens and City employees in performing assigned duties. This duty is performed as needed.
- Drives pickup truck and trailer along residential route for picking up recycling. This duty is performed daily.
- Attend safety training and other classes as directed. This duty is performed as needed.
- May have oversight of sanitation workers assigned to route. This duty is performed as needed.
- Operating a city vehicle is required for the essential functions.
- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
