BAE Systems Strategic Operations Manager in Hudson, New Hampshire

Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this role, it will be performed full-time on site. This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time.

The ES Model Shop has been servicing our customers since 1971. Now in our new location, we are looking for a manager who can run the day-to-day operation across multiple factories. The candidate will be an experienced Machinist with an extensive background in machining and leading teams. The Manager will be responsible for working with the team to deliver measured results, resolve problems, and develop continuous improvement plans. The Manager will drivethe long-range strategic planning process for operations by overseeing and managing aspects of manufacturing, program management, production control, and supply chain management. Defines goals, improves technologies, and resolves problems in conjunction with managers of engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain. Develops operations-related plans, budgets, and policies and procedures. Maintains safety and regulatory compliance relating to the production facility.

  • Associate degree or vocational school and 6 years relevant experience.

  • Have the ability to analyze a 3D Model using manufacturing software.

  • Reads blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals and specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished part, sequence of operations, and setup and tooling requirements. Demonstrates basic set-up and thought process for sequence of operations.

  • Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for the layout of subsequent machining.

  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

  • Thorough knowledge to Machine Shop mathematics.

  • Be able to communicate drawing features and/or functionality/manufacturability with Engineering/Designers

  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment in the performance of duties.

  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

  • Exhibit sound interpersonal skills involving interfacing, coordinating, and negotiating with company personnel, customers, direct employees, and suppliers.

  • Utilize computer skills to prepare appropriate reports and documents.

  • Make decisions using sound judgment while complying with policies, procedures, appropriate principles and applicable state and federal laws and regulations.

  • Analyze, evaluate, develop and implement processes and systems within budget and adhere to time requirements and schedule.

  • Design and develop products and services using state-of-the-art technology, principles, theories and concepts.

  • Possess strong interpersonal skills including consensus building, conflict resolution, effective teaming/team building.

  • Basic business acumen including understanding business financials. Basic knowledge of enterprise computer systems (ie - MRP). Previous experience in a business area is a plus.

  • Understanding of Lean and Six-Sigma principles

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • 3-6 Years in Leadership Role.

  • Extensive machine shop knowledge and experience.

  • Manage automated equipment experience.

  • Lean and Six-Sigma Green Belt.

  • Proficiency in office technologies including Excel, PowerPoint and MS Word.

  • Proficiency with continuous process improvement methodologies and tool; strong group facilitation skills.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $112420 - $191070

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
