• Job Summary :

The person hired for the position of Application Engineer-Automotive HMI will be responsible for promoting new product and application opportunity in the area of Light Crystal Display (LCD) and Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) displays, glazing and optically clear adhesives for automotive applications. At the same time, engineer is responsible for capturing customer high value problems translating into 3M’s opportunity.

In this role, the Application Engineer need have deep understanding of automotive systems, performance and durability requirements through direct customer engagement to enable novel new product application of brightness enhancement films, light control films, Head-up Display (HUD) systems, optically clear adhesives and solar film. The Application Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to translate customer needs into technical requirements leading to the application and development of new innovative products. The application engineer will work with global product development teams to bring exciting new products to market.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Develop deep understanding of automotive industry and application

• Lead automotive customer engagement in South/Center China, including OEM->Tier 1->LCD maker->Back light

• Penetrate new business opportunity via supply chain influence, show technical value and benefit

• Provide seminars & trainings to customers, and join customer R&D work to align 3M together

• Quick response on customer application/quality issues with on-site support on production line

• Develop prototypes and data packages to support customer engagement

• Leverage simulation to drive optimization of products and assembly methods

• Participate in global teams to ensure on-time product launch and alignment with key customers

• Effective communication, interpersonal and team skills to perform well in a variety of cross-functional team situations

• Initiates or contributes to the development of Intellectual Property

  Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor or above degree in Optical or Physics are preferred, additionally Chemistry, Electrical or other related material from an accredited university are good candidates

• Minimum of three (5) years of experience working in a product or application technical department, familiar with optical and visual display, smart glass products is additional benefits

• Experience with automotive industry including but not limited to experience with OEM, tier 1, tier 2 and/or material suppliers

• Ability translating customer demands into the technical aspects of applications

  Preferred Qualifications:

• Capability and familiarity with optical display and film testing equipment and methods

• Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage projects in a fast moving environment

• Strong communication skills (written, oral and presentation)

• Microsoft Office proficient

  Location: Guangzhou , S henzhen

  Travel: 25% trip in domestic
