GRACEVILLE CORRECTIONAL FACILITY is now hiring career-minded individuals to assist with securing the safety of our communities while making a difference in the lives of those on the inside. Now hiring a Substance Abuse Supervisor ( CAP required )

Position Summary:

Reports to the deputy, warden programs. Directly supervises the substance abuse counselors. Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of an effective alcohol and other drug abuse program with emphasis placed on awareness, prevention, staff training and networking with community resources in compliance with American Correctional Association (ACA) standards, Management & Training Corporation (MTC), Florida Department of Corrections (FDOC) and Florida Department of Management Services (DMS) directives.

Essential Functions:

  1. Develop and implement a system to promote the coordination and integration of the substance abuse prevention education components with other facility programs.

  2. Assess inmates with identified substance abuse problems; develop and implement a plan to modify or control behavior by working with inmates, counselors, instructors and the mental health consultant as appropriate.

  3. Assist inmates in self assessment and identification of substance abuse problems; develop and implement a plan to encourage abstinence by working with inmates, counselors, instructors and the mental health consultant, as appropriate.

  4. Ensure the documentation of all assessments and plans are in inmate medical records regarding substance abuse problems

  5. Provide ongoing comprehensive training for all staff members in the substance abuse area.

  6. Assist in providing substance abuse related materials and information in the health education program and development of health services standing orders and facility operating procedures regarding substance abuse.

  7. Recruit and coordinate participation and involvement of free world volunteers in programming and/or conduct self help meetings.

  8. Conduct substance abuse therapy and education.

  9. Encourage awareness of substance abuse issues throughout the facility.

  10. Develop linkages with community resources for substance abuse services.

It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling, psychology or closely related field and one (1) year experience in alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs or other related experience in substance abuse counseling preferred. Qualifying experience may be substituted for educational requirements on a year-for-year basis. Must possess appropriate certification. Minimum of one (1) year supervisory experience required. Valid driver's license in the state of Florida with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.

Post Hire Requirements:

Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements.
