Purpose:

The position provides one on one support for individual students with disabilities within the school setting. The main role will be to support a student with academic and functional needs within their educational program, as well as playground and cafeteria supervision.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of basic academic school subjects.

  • Knowledge of cultural competencies, classroom management, and student engagement practices.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Maine Ed Tech I, II or Ill Certification.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with students, colleagues, and families.

  • Ability to supervise student activities , providing a safe and supportive environment.

  • Ability to maintain effective relationships with students.

  • Ability to prepare clear and concise written and/or computer generated reports.

  • Ability to motivate students and develop appropriate rapport with staff and students.

  • Ability to be flexible in work assignments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Graduate or equivalent and one (1) year experience working with children in an educational setting.

  • Preference will be given to those who possess or are eligible to obtain an Educational Technician Certificate required under Title 20-A §13019-H.
