The Opportunity

The position of Applications Specialist is within our Toxicology Abbott business, based in Clearwater, FL. The Applications Specialist is responsible for ensuring overall customer satisfaction with Abbott HEIA™, SEFRIA™, and ELISA reagent products across all matrices, and supporting testing instrumentation, all in multiple markets. The Applications Specialist will provide expertise in the execution and analysis of experiments for investigation of product complaints, product improvements and or development. This role requires using critical thinking skills and independent problem solving to ensure proper implementation and continued use of Abbott products at customer locations.

What You’ll Work On

  • Coordinate and execute all phases of reagent and instrument implementations, including in-house preparation, customer project support, onsite application and installation, support of customer validation and go-live support.

  • Support validations of Abbott products at customer locations.

  • Provide training via in-person and virtual modes for new and existing customers as part of initial implementation and ongoing customer support.

  • Operate moderate and highly complex lab equipment in conjunction with support of Abbott products both internally and at customer locations.

  • Identify technical requirements of customers to ensure new and existing customer needs are appropriately defined and addressed.

  • Educate client on the overall process for assay and analyzer installation and validation support.

  • Collaborate with Sales leadership, Operations, CLS Technical Consulting, and other teams and colleagues to maintain and grow customer base through increased customer satisfaction.

  • Assist in the establishment of procedures and investigation methodologies.

  • Provide recommendation s and observations to senior Applications support staff and management .

  • Determine method s and procedures on new assignments and to provide guidance and training to others.

  • Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

  • Travel to customer locations for implementation, service, support, and other objectives as necessary

  • Demonstrate strict adherence to company's quality and operations policies, and industry regulatory requirements

  • Provide technical product support and conduct investigations on product complaints including data collection, summary, and initial analysis

  • Follow established company procedures and investigation methodologies to maintain records of customer complaints and conduct root cause analysis

  • Coordinate with appropriate departments to ensure relevant product feedback is provided.

  • Execute duties in compliance with established business policies.

  • Demonstrates commitment to the development, implementation and effectiveness of Company Quality Management System per ISO, FDA and other regulatory agencies.

  • Understands and heed the quality consequences which may occur from the improper performance of the role and specific tasks;. acknowledge and respond appropriately to device defects that may occur in their area of responsibility, including product design, verification and validation, manufacturing, and testing activities.

  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • BA or BS in Chemistry or, related scientific field, or Engineering, or Computer/Information sciences

  • 2+ years of related experience

  • Demonstrated effective verbal, written, and presentation skills

  • Ability to train, support,, and communicate with customers in a patient, expert manner

  • Thorough understanding of the science, technology, and processes of toxicology reagents, instrumentation,, and laboratory practices

  • Ability to follow detailed action plans, maintains accurate records, and carry out assignments in a thorough, conscientious manner while adhering to safe laboratory practices

  • Demonstrated time management, planning, and organization skills.

  • Demonstrated strengths in operation of computer systems and software packages, principally in Windows OS systems, across a wide range of business, laboratory, and data applications

  • Travel 75%

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience immunoassay platforms in forensic or clinical science, and/or experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified

  • Prior field experience recommended

  • Strong computer systems and Information Technology expertise and experience

  • Excellent organization prioritization skills; frequently manages multiple simultaneous projects

  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to execute objectives with precision

  • Excellent critical analytical skills; – ability to determine root cause of an issue

The base pay for this position is $57,300.00 – $114,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
