**While the full salary range for the Telecommunications Coordinator position is $39.66 - $59.47 hourly / $82,492.80 - $123,697.60 annually, the anticipated hiring range is $39.66 - $49.56 hourly / $82,492.80 - $103,084.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: This position performs a variety of specialized technical duties associated with the Telecommunication/Radio Services functions of the Agency. Duties EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The following duty statements are illustrative of the essential functions of the job and do not include other non-essential or marginal duties that may be required:

Coordinates the maintenance of radio equipment by evaluating equipment problems. Performs equipment installations and repairs or coordinates having the work done by an outside vendor. Reviews invoices for the purchases and repairs of all telecommunications equipment. Makes recommendations for purchasing radio equipment and peripherals. Evaluates telecommunications systems for upgrades. Provides specifications to Purchasing Agent for RFP and RFI preparation. Monitors the Telecommunications budget and makes budgetary recommendations. Represents the Agency on A.P.C.O. and CCNC Committees. Maintains regular and acceptable attendance at such level as determined at the Sheriff's Office discretion. Performs supervisory responsibilities of assigned personnel which may include planning, assigning, reviewing and directing work; performance evaluations, training and career development, addressing performance and/or personnel concerns and initiating corrective action. Assists with internal and external human resource processes and carry out supervisory duties in accordance with the Sheriff's Office policies and procedures. Is committed to a high standard of safety laws and all of the Sheriff's Office policies and rules and must be willing to report safety violations and potential safety violations to the appropriate supervisory or management personnel. Performs duties onsite, except those job duties that are customarily or by nature performed offsite. Interacts effectively with others. May be assigned other duties as necessary. Requirements REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of the function and operation of pagers, portable communications equipment, mobile radios, base-stations and repeaters, trunked radios systems and microwave radio systems. Knowledge of communications circuits and connectivity. Knowledge of microcomputers and peripherals. Ability to work in a Microsoft Windows environment. Knowledge of TCP/IP, LAN/WAN concepts and topologies. Ability to operate, repair and diagnose the technical telecommunication equipment used throughout the Sheriff's Office. Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written English. Ability to get along well with others. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Electronics or a closely related field.

EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years of related technical knowledge. OR Any equivalent combination of experience and education that satisfies the requirements of the job.

CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSES: None.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess CPR and First Aid certification within the initial status period. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The following are some of the physical demands commonly associated with this position. They are included for informational purposes and are not all inclusive.

Constantly uses eye, hand and finger coordination enabling the use of specialized equipment. Constantly uses visual capacity including depth perception, color vision and peripheral vision enabling the completion of required duties. Frequently stoops, kneels, crouches and balances while working with equipment. Frequently involved i oral and auditory interaction, enabling interpersonal communication. Occasionally lifts or carries up to 50 lbs. when moving electronics, test equipment, tools, office supplies or files. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is generally performed in a variety of settings, with exposure to weather elements, electrical hazards and confined workspaces. This position may be subject to 24-hour call out for emergency equipment repair.
