About the Role

Splunk is looking for a top-tier and deeply technical Product Leader to own the product integration strategy for Splunk Platform as part of the combined Cisco+Splunk portfolio. You will initially be responsible for being the primary product management interface between Splunk Platform and other product areas, particularly other product teams at Cisco. Your charter will be to articulate the overall strategy for Splunk Platform and explore areas of alignment with Cisco’s Networking, Security and Observability products.

You will also drive the initial discovery, and definition of specific initiatives that lead to alignments between Splunk Platform and other Cisco products, to drive differentiated value to our combined customer base. This role is at an outstanding intersection of product management, business strategy and product operations, and would provide you a great platform for career growth into a product leadership role!

You will use your understanding of the data platforms, analytics and big data ecosystem to synthesize ideas that improve Splunk's data platform service offering. Your cross-team collaboration skills will enable those improvements to be conceptualized and delivered to drive meaningful and impactful business outcomes.

You will work on the Data Platform area at Splunk, so a real empathy for the needs of developers is vital, and have a work history that includes some time in engineering roles and M&A experience is a plus. Knowledge in Security, Observability and Networking is an added plus as well.

You will merge attention to technical detail with ability to understand and align to business imperatives, while working hand-in-glove with cross-functional execution teams to drive customer insights and inputs directly into the development process.

Responsibilities

As with any fast-growing company, day-to-day responsibilities will span the entire product management lifecycle and include deep interaction with customers, sales, and engineering.

  • Engage with customers and internal product line partners, develop insights into top opportunities to add differentiated value for customers by integrating Splunk and Cisco products.

  • Work with other Splunk Platform PM leaders to build compelling and high impact data platform capabilities, based on deep understanding of customer needs & market trends, translating them into clear priorities and product roadmap

  • Work with Program management to supervise high impact cross cutting integration related initiatives that cut across multiple Splunk and Cisco product areas

  • Communicate overall strategy and combined integration roadmap to internal and external partners

  • Build positive relationships with business partners (Business Franchises, Business Operations, Business functions etc.) and development partners (UX design, engineering, data etc.) Have track record of taking SaaS or IaaS products from concept to launch. Are familiar with the customer journey and commercial model of industry leading SaaS and IaaS products, and have the ability to incorporate industry standard processes into your product

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in product management

  • 3+ years leading small teams a plus

  • Experience as a Product Manager building platform services/products focused on large scale search processing, query language, high availability, performance and scalability as well as data platform, storage and clustering technologies

  • Strong conceptual and critical thinking to drive product strategy and integration across a complex portfolio

  • Familiarity with cloud data services, batch/stream data processing and metadata management

  • Strong sense of customer empathy to care deeply about customer problems and user experience

  • Strong analytical abilities and data driven product decision-making approach

  • Collaborative teammate, with strong communication skills, including the ability to translate complex technical products and features into simple concepts and presentations

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with building large scale data platform, query language and optimizations

  • Deep understanding of data platform market, trends, competition and industry

  • Strong bias for action, creative thinking, innovation and data driven product decision-making

  • Exposure to cloud infrastructure and agile software development

  • Passion for solving exciting technical problems and building enterprise products with intuitive user experience

  • Security, Observability and/or Networking knowledge is a plus

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (e.g. EE, CS); MBA or equivalent experience highly preferred

Note:

Base Pay Range

SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro, and New York City Metro Area

Base Pay Range: $212,400.00 - 292,050.00 per year

California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), Washington DC Metro, and Massachusetts

Base Pay Range: $191,160.00 - 262,845.00 per year

All other cities and states excluding California, Washington, Massachusetts, New York City Metro Area and Washington DC Metro Area.

Base Pay Range: $172,000.00 - 236,500.00 per year

Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the base pay range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out above, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for incentive compensation and may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.
