CDI Technologist Assistant in Brunswick, Maine

RAYUS Radiology, formerly Center for Diagnostic Imaging and Insight Imaging, is looking for a Technologist Assistant/Technologist in Training to join our team. As a Technologist Assistant/Technologist in Training, you will provide assistance to technologists in areas that allow technologist to maintain an on-time schedule and run the scanning area in an orderly fashion. Is actively working toward certification as Radiologic Technologist or MRI Technologist by completing required education and clinical training. While training as a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) technologist, you will operate your assigned scanner(s) to produce images of the patient's body for diagnostic purposes under direct supervision. Taking a patient centered approach, you will provide MRI services within professional standards and with excellent customer service. Each patient comes to our centers looking for answers. You will guide patients through this sometimes difficult process by kindly talking them through the steps and answering their questions and concerns regarding exam procedures and process. This position is full-time, working evening shifts. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Technologist Assistance * Monitors MRI, CT, arthrogram and x-ray schedules * Adjusts patients schedule when necessary and keeping all techs informed of any changes * Greets and escorts patients to changing room; briefly explains procedure * Prepares patient jackets and compiles films putting them together in appropriate jacket according to date and number * Assists technologists in room set up between patients, including putting proper coil on table, putting previous coil away and changing table sheet * Helps the technologist stay on time by having the next patient ready before the current patient is ready to get off the table * Restores and networks all previous exams for next day’s returning patients Patient MRI Imaging with Supervision * Screens patient before exam for any precautions or contradictions pertaining to examination, using two patient identifiers to ensure correct patient and procedure * Explains and prepares patients for imaging procedures that will be performed, explaining the procedure, positioning patients so that the parts of the body can be appropriately scanned and providing patient support by talking to patients throughout procedure * Performs routine MRI procedures on designated portions of the body for use by physicians in the diagnosing and treating of patient illness and/or injury with minimal amount of supervision or repeats, while providing patient support by talking to patients throughout procedure * Performs advanced MRI procedures with support and under supervision * Adjusts MRI scan parameters correctly and as needed * Maintains positive attitude and working relationships with radiologist, referring customers and other associates and peers * Follows physicians’ orders precisely and conforms to safety regulations to protect themselves, their patients, and coworkers * Accurately maintains patient records within Radiology Information System (RIS) * Maintains an orderly and clean work area promoting good safety habits for patients and co-workers * Maintains ACR toolkit and accreditation requirements * Maintains equipment in good working order; cleans and disinfects equipment after each use * Ensures compliance with all HIPAA guidelines Cleaning & Organization * Stocks and cleans work and control areas and MRI room(s) * Ensures that all MRI patient areas are stocked and organized in a neat and tidy manner * Cleans and stocks patient prep room and patient restroom * Stocks linen and empties laundry at the end of the night * Organizes and cleans supply closet and computer rooms * Organizes radiologist reading area after radiologist has left for the day * Checks with MRI technologists, Medical Records and/or Front Office for additional duties as needed Performs other duties as assigned Required: * High school diploma or equivalent * Either one of the following: * certification in another imaging modality * certification in an allied health field such as medical assistant, EMT, paramedic, surgical technician, EEG technologists, Physical Therapist Assistant, LPN, RN, other * Associate degree or higher in any field * Within the first X months of employment, you must: * Complete training and experience sufficient to competently perform MRI procedures independently. * Obtain certification as an MRI technologist through ARMRIT or ARRT. Preferred: * Enrollment in current radiologic technologist program * Associate degree or higher in a healthcare or science (biology, anatomy) field.
