Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Academic Advisor I, Executive Education, Boca Raton, FL

Summary of responsibilities:

  • Advise/counsel students on their academic programs, including administering academic policy, updating records for currently enrolled students, facilitating registration, orientation, and graduation certification.

  • Work on Self and Unit professional development through participation in professional associations and conferences.

  • Reinforce and support student degree progress, academic success and retention, in alignment with university strategic goals and initiatives.

  • Track student progress and assist with outreach/retention efforts.

  • Advise current students on curriculum issues and class schedules.

  • Providing general advising program information to prospective students.

  • Monitoring student academic plans to provide timely, proactive outreach to ensure degree progress and timely graduation using defined learning outcomes.

  • Organizing pre-advising information and hand outs to guide prospective students in their choice of programs in the College of Business.

  • Process registration for Executive Education graduate programs.

  • Resolve problems as they arise or recommend how problems can be resolved.

  • Assist with responding to student emails/phone calls regarding general questions about

  • Work closely with professors to help facilitate communication with students in an atypical situation.

  • admissions for prospective students and program requirements for current students.

  • Serve as a liaison with other designated areas across the College and University to facilitate student success and completion in conjunction with Student Academic Services leadership.

  • Work closely with the immunization department, financial aid office, controller’s office, registrar’s office, and international student office to ensure that current students’ paperwork is updated.

  • Correspond frequently with students by phone and email using strong and professional communication skills (verbal and written).

  • Use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) to organize and track student’s academic progress and finance (tuition billing and payment).

  • Work closely with the Executive Education staff counterparts to facilitate student’s non-academic requests or needs.

  • Develop and provide best practices with team members.

  • Assist and participate in orientation sessions, graduation and banquet.

  • Provide general office support if requested in other areas.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and one year of appropriate experience required.

Preferred Qualifications/Skills:

Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience.

Experience with Presenting to large groups.

Experience working with students, and/or adults in an educational environment.

University experience and knowledge of academic advising.

Proficient data entry skills.

Proficiency in English and in MS Office Suite.

Demonstrate excellent customer service orientation and interpersonal skills.

High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Working knowledge of Banner, Workday, VIP, and Adobe.

Salary:

$55,000- $60,000 per year.
