Kanaan Communications, LLC Permitting Supervisor in Benicia, California

Overview and Essential Functions

CableCom is seeking a Permitting Supervisor to join our team at our Benicia, California location and manage the day to day work of all Permit Coordinators and Permit Contractors. Successful candidates must have at least 2 years of experience in permitting, preferably in a supervisory or leadership role.

Salary Range: $67,000 - $80,000

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day to day work of all Permit Coordinators and Permit Contractors.

  • Serve as subject matter expert on matters related to local municipal codes and to effectively communicate status of sites.

  • Maintain relationships with municipalities and manage all aspects of complying with conditions of approvals from municipalities for installation, operation and maintenance of facilities and networks.

  • Work with permit agencies/joint pole/structure owner(s) and other 3rd parties to obtain necessary permits for construction.

  • Obtain all necessary permitting/zoning approval from local, state and national agencies.

  • Coordinate with construction management to create permit schedules that align with project construction schedules.

  • Inform other internal functional groups about requirements and regulations of government entities and municipalities to assist with compliance with general conditions of approvals at permit and construction stages of the project, and to meet project timelines.

  • Track pending and open permits to ensure timely processing and all requirements are complete for permit closure.

  • Review and approve daily permitting timesheets.

  • Cross train to perform field walkout for training as needed.

  • Site visits and municipal or jurisdictional meetings as needed.

Qualifications

  • Two years previous experience in permitting.

  • Experience in a supervisory or leadership role preferred.

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

  • Knowledge of typical aerial and underground utility construction practices

  • Knowledge of GO95 and GO120 construction regulations

  • Working knowledge of MUTCD traffic control permitting requirements

  • Organized and able to maintain tracking sheets.

  • Knowledge of Smartsheet preferred.

  • Ability to create professional documents as needed

  • Must be able to pass background and drug screen

  • Able to perform physical tasks for the entire assigned work shift

  • Standing – 2-4 hours daily

  • Walking - 2 to 4 hours daily

  • Sitting - 6 to 8 hours daily

  • Driving - typically 4 to 6 hours daily
