Adams County Nursery Inc Farmworker in Aspers, Pennsylvania

All resumes/applications are reviewed and only those that match the job specifications are forwarded to the employer. Usual hours of work are Monday thru Friday, 7am-4pm  with one hour lunch. Three months of experience are required. Primary job in July-October will be harvesting apples and peaches for fresh fruit market and processing. Workers must be able to lift 50 lb picking bags as well as a ladder and be ale to maintain a picking rate of at least 16 bags per hour. Workers must be able to pick bruise free fruit and may have samples taken randomly to examine the quality of their picking. Other primary work will be digging, grading and bundling nursery trees to prepare for shipment during the months of November and December. Secondary work will include picking peach seeds, planting, training, weeding, placing or removing tree guards, trimming, thinning and other general care associated with fruit trees. All equipment (ladder, picking bags, pruners, etc) will be provided at no cost to all employees. General conditions: A normal work week is Monday to Friday 7AM to 4PM with a 1-hour unpaid lunch break. There will also be two 10-minute paid breaks during the shift. Work schedules may vary in order to work around extreme weather conditions or other conditions that may affect the work or may be beyond the employer's control, such as the status of the crop. If work is available beyond normal work days, employer may offer but not require worker an opportunity to work additional hours or on the weekend. Workers will report to work at designated time and place as directed by assigned supervisor each day. Employees may be requested to work extended hours on a daily basis depending on the conditions and readiness of crops but will not be required to exceed 40 hours in a week. workers should expect occasional periods of little or no work because of the weather, crop or other conditions beyond the employer's control. A copy of the agricultural work agreement and work rules containing all of the provisions required by 20 CFR 655.122a will be provided to the worker in a language understood by the worker no later than at the time at which the worker applies for the visa, or to a worker in corresponding employment no later than on the date work commences. In the absence of a separate, written contract entered into between the employer and the worker, the required terms of this job order and certified application for temporary employment certification will be the work contract.
